I recently started back to school full time again, well technically four credits over full time, my schedule is packed, I mean really packed. Lately our lives have revolved around getting up, going to daycare/school, and coming home to do homework, get ready for bed, and start all over again. Not much fun for a three year old, but all that is about to change. Logan is getting a little bored with the schedule, I don’t blame him, I am too, so tomorrow is all about him. We are going to create our own little toddler paradise.
Try looking at the day through your toddler’s eyes. Do things that are centered around what is important to them. Of course there are still errands to run, but make the trip fun for them too. Nothing is more exciting than getting to push the buttons at the ATM, or getting to swipe the credit card at the grocery store. It may take all of 30 seconds longer, but seeing the smile on their faces is more than worth it. Let them help you with the little things. Having them help make dinner tonight might take a little longer, it might even be a little bit more work, but they will be thrilled to be a part of it.
Take them to Redbox and let them pick out a movie for the two of you to watch tonight. Have a picnic in the family room while you watch it. Turn off the lights, pop some popcorn, let them pick a favorite treat, and cuddle up!
Draw a warm bath for them and don’t forget the bubbles! Scoop up the bubbles and make funny faces with them. It will be a night to remember! When you’re all finished put on some cuddly jammies and climb into bed together. Let them pick out their favorite stories and read to their little heart’s content. Nothing better than cuddling up for a bedtime story. These are the memories you’ll both cherish for a lifetime. They won’t remember that the house was a mess or the dishes weren’t done that day, but they will remember the love they felt when Mommy tucked them into bed that night, and that’s the greatest gift of all.
