Tom Arnold and Third Wife Separate

Tom Arnold announced this week that he and his wife of four years, Shelby Roos, are separating. Arnold met Roos at the 2000 Democratic National Convention where she was a political consultant. Call me crazy, but I would think a political consultant would be far too serious for Tom. Tom has asked the court that his Beverly Hills home as well as money he had going into the marriage remain strictly as his property. I am not aware as to whether the two signed a prenuptial agreement or not.

This is Tom’s third marriage. His first was a high profile marriage to fellow comedian Roseanne Barr. The two could be seen almost everywhere after their 1990 marriage, due in part to their outrageous behavior. Does anyone remember when Roseanne sang (or should I say disgraced?) the National Anthem at the baseball game? Tom was right there by her side. Roseanne had met Tom in 1983 and made him a staff writer on her hit television series “Roseanne.” They were soon married, but their love was short lived, with the two divorcing in 1994. Tom married for the second time in 1995 to Julie Champnella, a hair and makeup stylist. Their marriage ended in 1999.

I remember at one point – I believe it was between wife two and three – that Tom created a web page, looking for potential wives. It’s sad that he cannot find the right woman for him. Tom has always struck me as a poor man’s Robin Williams. Manic and always on, I have always liked Tom. I even found him to be funnier than Rosanne Barr. I will admit that many of his movies are corny, but he found credibility as the co-host of the FoxSport’s talk show “The Best Damn Sports Show Period.”

Fast Facts about Tom Arnold:

He is the voice of the oven mitt from the Arby’s commercials.

Tom’s 1992 sitcom, The Jackie Thomas Show, only lasted 18 episodes.

Tom lost 70 pounds in 2005.
