10. The Richest Female Entertainer is…
It should come as a surprise to no one that Oprah is the richest female entertainer. She has made $1.5 billion in her career (wow!). Who is behind Oprah in the rich line? Rounding out the top ten is JK Rowling, Martha Stewart, Madonna, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Julie Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, and Jennifer Aniston.
9. Lindsay Lohan Enters Rehab
Lindsay entered rehab as a “proactive decision” this past week. She has admitted to attending Alcoholic’s Anonymous and rumors are swirling about possible drug abuse, but word has not been issued as to exactly why she is attending rehab. I just think it is sad that she is going through all this at such a young age (20).
8. Oscar Announcement
The announcement of the nominees for the 79th Annual Academy Awards will be made on January 23 at 5:30 am PST by Salma Hayek and Sid Ganis, President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. I cannot wait!
7. Possible Police Reunion
In the late 70s/early 80s, I spent a lot of time alone in my bedroom, listening to the Police. They were one of my favorite bands and I was heartbroken when they broke up. Although there were only three members in the band and they created great music, none of them seemed to be able to get along together, leading to the breakup. Now, almost 30 years after they started, lead singer Sting has said he is considering a reunion. Woohoo!
6. Jenna Elfman Expecting
Actress Jenna Elfman announced that she is pregnant with her first child. She and hubby Bodhi Elfman have been married since 1995 and they are eagerly awaiting the birth of the baby.
5. Jolie-Pitts Move to New Orleans
Continuing to put their money where their mouths are, Angelina and Brad have moved the clan into a house in the French Quarter. Later this month, construction will begin on 20 environmentally friendly homes that Brad has jointly commissioned with Global Green USA.
4. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Last Season
Rumors have been swirling about its demise, but this week Bravo finally announced that this upcoming season would be the last for the Fab Five. I will miss this show so much, but at least we will have reruns to look forward to (I hope).
3. Kim Basinger Faces Jail Time
Just when we thought it was civil, Alec Baldwin has charged that ex-wife Kim Basinger breached their 2004 custody agreement. Now Kim faces 12 counts of contempt and could be placed in jail for 60 days and also be forced to pay a $12,000 fine. I just wish these two would stop for a minute to see how this is affecting their daughter Ireland.
2. Justin and Cameron’s Quarrel
The newly split Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz reportedly quarreled after the Golden Globes last week. It seems that Justin decided to talk to Jessica Biel during an after party held by Prince. Cameron intervened and a 40 minute heated discussion followed in a side room.
1. Grey’s Anatomy Turmoil Continues
I thought the whole thing with TR Knight and Isaiah Washington was over, but apparently not. Isaiah made a joke on the red carpet about being gay, then grabbed the microphone in the pressroom and said he never used the F word (faggot, which apparently is the new F word). Co-star Katherine Heigl insisted that Isaiah did use the F word and he needs to shut up in public. Then ABC execs stepped in, saying Isaiah shouldn’t have used the word again. Finally, late last week, Isaiah admitted to using the F word and issued an apology. Hopefully, THIS is the end of this incident.
