Top 10 Fitness Tips

So you are on your way to a fit lifestyle, so how about some fitness tips to keep you moving? Here are top 10 fitness tips that will give you a better chance at succeeding.

Tip number one is to make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Water is something we should be implementing into our exercise routine. Drinking water before, during and after a workout will help keep you hydrated.

Tip number two is to change up your routine. If you don’t put some variety into your fitness routine you will find yourself becoming bored and possibly unmotivated.

Tip number three is to make sure you are stretching before and after you exercise. Since the older you get, the less pliable your muscles are. You will need to stretch a little longer when you are 40 than when you were 20. For instance, those in their 20’s and 30’s might hold their stretch for about 30 seconds, but those who are older should hold their stretch for about 60 seconds.

Tip number four is to wear comfortable clothes when you workout. Make sure your shoes aren’t tight, along with your clothing. You want to wear breathable, loose-fitting clothing.

Tip number five is to keep a journal on your successes. Lost a pound? Write it down. It may not seem like much at the time but over a period of time as you begin to see more weight shed, it is motivating to see it all spelled out. Write down inches you have lost as well.

Tip number six is to purchase a pedometer. Monitoring the number of steps you take each day can be helpful. It shows you how active you are and what you may need to incorporate into your day to be sure you have walked enough.

Tip number seven is to find the best time of day to workout. The early morning hours doesn’t work for everyone. Don’t feel obligated to workout during a specific time of day…do what works best for you.

Tip number eight is to set short-range goals. If necessary, set daily goals…the point is to set goals that are realistic and reachable.

Tip number nine is to change your diet. You don’t have to starve yourself but begin to cut out things that you know aren’t good for you and introduce into your diet healthier choices.

Tip number ten is to develop a workout schedule. If you try to squeeze it in when you can, it won’t happen. So be deliberate about it and plan out your routine, which should include a set time on set days.
