Back up your computer every week ~ Need I say more?
Buy Office from Microsoft or download Open Office ~ Although I love Open Office, I will the first one to admit that it can’t do everything that Word can, and some companies require you to use Word, not OO. If you are short on cash, download OO, and then buy the the Office Suite when you have the money. It may take a while to save up–that baby is expensive!!!
Download Firefox ~ Okay, so this isn’t a requirement, but it will make your computer more secure and what about all the great extensions you can use while working at home? You’ll definitely want to download Firefox.
If at all possible, have a landline and high-speed Internet ~ I have already talked about this, but it bears repeating: Almost all work-at-home jobs (except writing and blogging and even then it’s very helpful) require either a landline or high-speed Internet, or both. If you’re serious about working from home, then these are pieces of equipment you’ll be severely handicapped without.
