Top 10 Wedding Destinations

Have you ever considered a destination wedding? Destination wedding pack up you, your fiancé and any wedding attendants along with guests and family to head to an exotic or distant locale where you may or may not stay on later for honeymoon purposes. The destination wedding transports you from where you live to another place where you and your fiancé can have the romantic wedding of your dreams. Make no mistake, a destination wedding is expensive, but speaking from personal experience – it was also a great way to have a wedding.

With that in mind, here are my top ten spots for a destination wedding in no particular order:

  • Hawaii – A tropical wedding can hit all the right notes in the romance department, not to mention the Hawaiian Islands are a beautiful place for a honeymoon. My cousin and her husband flew halfway around the world from Great Britain to marry in a sunset ceremony on the island of Maui and they stayed on for another week for their honeymoon
  • Red Rock Country in Arizona is another picturesque and brilliant location, you and your family can take a helicopter ride up to one of the mesas for the ceremony and then continue on to other parts of the Southwest for the honeymoon
  • Western Weddings in Texas – You can travel to several parts of Texas including an area in Burleson where you can marry in western gear and spend your honeymoon at a dude ranch
  • Carnival Cruise Lines – The Carnival Cruise Lines offer cruises in many parts of the world including the Caribbean and Alaska, enjoy your shipboard wedding and let it double as a honeymoon or take the cruise to a destination where you can honeymoon as well
  • Disney World – Speaking from experience, Disney World is a great place for your destination wedding and honeymoon whether you choose the rose garden at the Yacht Club or the Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian
  • Climb Every Mountain – How about a mountain wedding in Wyoming or in the Shenandoah? You and your family can trek up into the Mountains for a beautiful nature ceremony and take your honeymoon anywhere you want to go
  • Lake Tahoe – Lake Tahoe has a little bit of everything whether you are looking for a Winter Wonderland wedding with a sleigh ride through the snow or a summer wedding in a hiking meadow or getting married on a ferry on the Lake itself – and it’s a great location for a honeymoon as well
  • Las Vegas – Many couples may travel to Las Vegas for their wedding ceremony whether they are going for a drive thru wedding or a quickie in a wedding chapel or a large formal planned wedding – you can even get married in full Star Trek regalia if you want at the Star Trek exhibit there in Las Vegas
  • New York State of Mind – How about a wedding in New York City at one of their beautiful hotels followed by a week of honeymooning at local hot spots and seeing Broadway musicals and more?
  • San Diego – San Diego is another great wedding location whether you are going for a beach wedding a yacht wedding or a wedding in Balboa Park – with so much to see and do in the San Diego area – it’s a great opportunity.
