What a great month here in the Marriage blog and I know I probably say that every month, but every month I feel like it’s true. I am blessed to be working with a great co-writer here named Sherry and while we do not always see eye-to-eye on the issues, I honestly believe that sharing our unique perspectives helps us cover all parts of the spectrum.
I think we demonstrate our best in our Marriage Debates category where we address the issues that are affecting couples, families and individuals all over the country. November kicked off to a start with Election Day and the votes in many states to amend their state constitutions on the definition of marriage. Yet the debate continues and there are challenges occurring to many of these state laws and more.
But for the Top Choice of the Month, I’m going to point out Sherry’s Are You Opposites …Politically? because I believe that it honestly addressed the concerns many of us have when we and our partners are on the opposite sides of the fence.
I know one couple that is made up of two total clowns who tease each other mercilessly, although it is in the spirit of fun. They have been known to have some strenuous debates on hot topic issues, where both come out swinging (figuratively), yet I’ve never seen either one walk away angry. I think it’s cool that at the end of the day, they get along well with each other despite their very strong differences.
– Sherry Holetzky, Are You Opposites … Politically?
Marriage is hard enough at times, but can you be on opposite sides of the political fence and still maintain a good relationship? Personally, I think it depends on the people. Beliefs are important, but believing in each other is equally important – politics and religion are considered two very heated topics when it comes to being married and Sherry makes a lot of great observations in her article. So if you haven’t check it out, you should!
Have a great day.
