Top 10 Reasons to Be a Parent

Do you ever have just one of “those days”? As a parent I’m sure you are shaking your head yes. Maybe thinking of the last time your toddler had a temper tantrum in the store, or your child said the dreaded words “I hate you!”, or your teenager came home after curfew. Lately is seems that my two year old, along with some help from her four year old sister and six year old brother, has been giving me a lot of “those days”. So I decided to sit down and write down the reasons that being a parent is great, to remind myself why I do what I do every day. Hopefully it will be a little reminder to you too when you are having one of “those days”.

Top 10 Reasons To Be A Parent

#10 You get to say, “Because I’m the boss.”

#9 You get to have tea parties or play with trucks everyday.

#8 You can do your job in your pajamas.

#7 You get to make and eat chocolate chip cookie dough and claim it’s just for your kids.

#6 Because someday you’ll be a grandparent.

#5 You get to read stories, play at the park, and watch cartoons and no one thinks you’re strange.

#4 The look of pride on your child’s face when they accomplish something.

#3 The sound of silence as you gaze at their angel faces while they are sleeping.

#2 The delightful giggles and adorable smiles.

And the #1 reason to be a parent is the sweet hugs and kisses you get everyday.

I look forward to sharing and learning with each of you as we explore the wonders and complexities of being a parent through my parenting blogs. Feel free to write me with comments or questions and I will do my best to answer them.
