Tori Spelling’s New Baby

Actress Tori Spelling has given birth… to a new… inn. Okay, okay, I apologize for teasing. Spelling is still pregnant and is set to give birth any day now to a baby boy she confirmed will be given the middle name “Aaron” (a tribute to her father Aaron Spelling).

In the meantime, this weekend, Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott celebrated the grand opening of their new bed and breakfast—but just barely.

“Dean was painting doors until 2 p.m.,” Spelling told PEOPLE magazine. “Only hours before the gala, all the furniture was gathered in the middle of the rooms and not set out. It was sheer madness. It came down to the wire but we pulled it off.”

The 9-acre B&B is located in Fallbrook, California (roughly 100 miles southeast of Los Angeles), and is named Chateau La Rue, after Spelling’s pet dog Mimi La Rue. In a previous blog I wrote about why the newlyweds decided to leave Hollywood to run their own inn. The answer: cha-ching! It’s all about the Benjamins, baby. Spelling and McDermott inked a deal with the Oxygen network to star in a reality show, which focuses on them running the B&B.

But, Chateau La Rue is not your traditional B&B.

“We don’t like traditional B&Bs because they are cluttered with people’s eclectic old collectibles,” Spelling told the magazine. “We wanted a modern, chic B&B for our generation. We can’t wait to entertain our guests with fun theme nights and movie nights on the lawn.”

When the movies are over, Spelling says guests staying at the three-room inn can retire to rooms decked out in sleek Jonathan Adler furniture and modern art. According to Spelling, even the inn’s entryway has dramatic touches—two large fish tanks.

The first official guests are scheduled to arrive later this week. But, on Saturday the inn was the site of a celebrity bash, with guests Lisa Rinna and husband Harry Hamlin, as well as “Melrose Place” alumni Grant Show and Kelly Rutherford.

According to Spelling, her husband will be doing most of the manual labor around the inn while she prepares to give birth to their son.

“Since I’m in my ninth month (of pregnancy), I’m exhausted and it’s hard for me to get around. But I love to cook so I’ll be preparing a lot of the food and conceptualizing the theme nights.”

Does anyone else wonder how long this reality series will last? I have a feeling that after the baby arrives things may get a bit too real for Spelling and this whole B&B thing may go Bye-Bye! After all, she still has that book to write. A new baby, a book to write, and a B&B to run? Good luck!
