Here’s the thing with seven-time Tour de France champ Lance Armstrong—I think he is good looking, athletic, and his will to survive after being diagnosed with cancer is simply inspirational. However, I have never been able to get over his decision to divorce his wife and the mother of his three young children, Kristin. What’s more, when I heard that he dumped fiancée singer Sheryl Crow just weeks prior to her breast cancer diagnosis, I again questioned my opinion of the guy. Now, I am wondering if his good looks and steely resolve are not tainting my judgment of him.
According to several entertainment publications, the 35-year-old cycling champ recently hooked up with Ivanka Trump (daughter of “The Donald”). Okay, technically they were said to have gone out on “several dates,” but the relationship never got out of “first gear.” The reports said the 24-year-old Trump, who currently holds the title of vice president of development and acquisitions for the Trump Organization, met Armstrong at a charity event in Los Angeles a few months ago when she was in town filming her father’s NBC reality show “The Apprentice.” YIKES!
Now before you get too excited (I practically started hyperventilating when I heard the news), Armstrong’s rep says the relationship was “not romantic in nature.” What’s more, a pal of Trump’s told reporters, “Ivanka hasn’t seen Lance in a month.” And to end all speculation Trump herself told PEOPLE earlier this week, “I have tremendous respect for Lance and all he has accomplished. That said, we are just friends.”
So why am I in a tizzy about the latest news? I’m not exactly sure, but I think it has to do with the fact that this man, who by all accounts is smart, business savvy, and in my humble opinion, quite handsome divorced his wife who bore him three beautiful children, and his famous fiancée, only to (as reported and documented by various entertainment sources) show up with a bevy of leggy, long-haired blondes at hip Hollywood nightclubs on different occasions (that is when he is not hanging out with his actor pals Matthew McConaughey and Jake Gyllenhaal.). He just strikes me as a solid, stay-at-home-no-need-to-go-clubbing-family-type of man… but I guess looks can be deceiving.
