There is so much to do at the Lodge, you have many choices. There is a
documentary film, shown twice daily called, The Real Maria, that tells about her life in Austria. The gift shop offers beautiful Vermont items as well as books and music.
I chose to use our trip to relax. The massage I booked was divine, firm and thorough from head to toe. The table was warm tucked away in a private, quiet room. Along with being writer, I’m also a Licensed Massage Therapist so I can honestly recommend their massages. Harry, my husband, normally doesn’t want a massage from anyone but me. However he too loved his massage.
Remember that saying about the devil is in the details? The Trapp Family Lodge has it covered. We had talked with the hotel babysitter before leaving home. Prices at the time were $15 an hour and we found our sitter delightful, as did Riley.
At dinner on the first night, our waiter came over to our table, and he already knew that we were “on” the five-course plan. He explained we could have the three-course plan if we so desired. (We did the second night because the amount of delicious food was almost too rich all at once.)
We were given free rein to have whatever we wanted, an appetizer, dinner and dessert or soup, salad and an entree, or we could choose from the specials page. There was no catch and the staff was genuinely interested in helping us enjoy our stay.
Each evening housekeeping slid heart shaped chocolates with an itinerary of events taking place the next day under our door. Afternoon tea and cookies, etc…
