SKINNY FLIERS
Air carrier Frontier is tooting its horn again. This time they are bragging about their skinny passengers. (Earlier this year the airline was touting its decision to add more seats to its planes and providing in-flight e-mail access.) Now the carrier says it is flying light and saving money in the process. According to airline officials, the company recently conducted a survey that it says indicates its customers weigh less than the average U.S. flier. Frontier executives said its passengers and their carry-on bags “weigh 17 pounds less than the national average,” helping it save “$3.5 million a year in fuel costs.” Airline execs say to carry a lot of weight you have to carry more fuel, which is “very, very expensive nowadays.”
I see where this is going… no more in-flight meals—ever! And airline sponsored diets (like the one Jared inspired for Subway) to cut down on fuel costs… YIKES!
KID FRIENDLY HOTELS
It’s summertime and families with kids are on the move… and hotels around the country are jockeying for their business.
Embassy Suites Hotels is introducing a new program it hopes will attract pint-sized customers. The hotel’s “Kids-Eye View” kid concierge program directs families to kid-friendly destinations in 36 North American cities. The new program includes interview responses from thousands of children from across North America – including Canada and Mexico. The kids were asked about their favorite things to do in their own cities. Their responses were then published in a travel guide created by kids for kids.
All of the activities featured in the guide have been compiled into city-specific pages. Young guests receive large stickers that are pasted into Kids Eye View Passports upon arrival at the hotel. The colorful, full-size passport also has space for kids to add their own takes on each destination.
