Travel to a Hands-On History Lesson

Looking to take a trip of a lifetime?

Then, consider jetting off to see history in the making at the 57th Presidential inauguration.

Washington, D.C. is buzzing with excitement as it gets set to host Inauguration 2013.  On Monday, January 21st, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will be sworn in and officially begin their second term in office

Surprisingly, there are still some hotel rooms available for visitors traveling to D.C. for the big event.  Of course, not all of them come with price tags fit for frugal travelers.  In fact, some Presidential inauguration travel packages are better suited for royalty than politicos.

For example, the Georgetown Four Seasons’ Royal Suite is currently going for $20,000 during the presidential festivities.  The hefty price gets you a luxurious bedroom plus a dining room, a kitchen, a personal gym, an office, a massive terrace, bulletproof windows, and a sprawling living room decked out with marble, lots of seating areas and multiple televisions.

Another travel package with over-the-top perks comes courtesy of the Park Hyatt.  The upscale property is offering a $57,000 four-night package, which includes a “bath butler.” Meanwhile, the Madison Hotel is featuring a $47,000 four-night package, which includes a “social media butler.”  Translation:  You will have access to a social media professional 24/7 during the inauguration weekend to preserve and promote any and all historic moments on all your favorite platforms.  According to the hotel, “The Social Media Butler will post on all of your accounts so you don’t have to fumble for your phone to catch that perfect Facebook profile picture!”

Then there’s the JW Marriott’s special “deal.”  It’s giving you the chance to buy the entire hotel for inauguration weekend for a mere $2.7 million.  If you don’t have that kind of dough, consider booking the 12th floor luxury suites with terraces that overlook the inauguration parade route.  Each suite is available for $40,000, which includes $15,000 in food and beverages. By the way, each suite can accommodate up to 50 people.

So, what are you waiting for?
