Trim Your Tree For Less

The time to trim your Christmas tree is rapidly approaching. Many people put their tree up on Thanksgiving day or the day after. Are you looking for some new and exciting things to try with your tree this year? Do you like to plan different tree’s for each holiday season? Here is a great sampling of some fun things you can decorate your tree with. And some items can be used year after year!

Decorate with a Doily

You can purchase doily’s from discount chains all over. They are available in fabric and paper. If you already have some at the house, even better. Attach a ribbon through two holes and tie to your Christmas tree. If the doily seems to big, you can fold it in half and looks just as good!

Wrap It In Ribbons

Ribbons make beautiful additions to your Christmas tree. You can tie them on branches scattered apart or tie ribbons to “found” items around your home and then hang or attach to the tree. You can find ribbon on sale at discount craft stores and even the dollar store. Use solids or a Christmas pattern.

Paper Pizazz

Using patterned papers and even solids, you can cut various shapes and attach them to the tree. If you cut out different shapes you can then decorate them using beads, sequins, ribbons and glitter. Cut out a bunch of circles and attach them together with ribbon using a hole punch and you can create a long strand of garland too.

Curb Your Sweet Tooth

Candy is another excellent item to decorate your tree with and is extremely frugal. You can attach lifesavers, hang mints, candy canes, foil covered chocolates and all sorts of other candy items. Use a hot glue gun to attach a hanger to the backs of the candy so they hang easily. String popcorn to use as the garland.
