If you watched any part of “Survivor 9 Vanuatu: Islands of Fire” then you might have found yourself dreaming of a tropical island getaway in the South Pacific. But getting to and staying at a beach resort on the island hideaway made famous by the popular CBS reality show might be a bit daunting for the average traveler… at least until now. Several tropical resorts are trying to fill rooms during the pre-summer months by offering great deals at their properties.
Take a look at some of these affordable travel deals that allow you to escape the winter blues in style:
VANUATU
The South Pacific archipelago of 83 islands located just a two-hour plane ride from New Zealand’s Auckland is the ideal place to explore diverse geography and experience various tribal communities. When you aren’t bonding with the locals you can take part in sailing trips around the islands; snorkeling and scuba diving and taking pictures at the base of volcanoes. You can save money doing so by staying at the new Eratap Beach Resort, which just opened four months ago. The resort offers three beaches and eight acres of tropical gardens and is surrounded by pristine reefs and deep blue lagoons. It also features 12 waterfront villas; a beach restaurant, a pool and spa pavilions. With the reduced opening rates, you can now book a room for about $438. The rate is valid for a two-person villa and covers daily breakfast, round-trip airport transfers, and all non-motorized activities.
TONGA
Tonga is located just east of Fiji and south of Samoa, and is considered one of the most unspoiled and ancient island nations in the South Pacific. Currently, the Fafá Island Resort, an eco-friendly retreat located on an uninhabited 18-acre island just north of Nuku’alofa, is offering incredible savings on two-person bungalows. Each unit is built in traditional style, with coconut thatched walls, and shingled wooden roofs, solar energy and natural ventilation. For just $212 per night you will receive overnight accommodations for two people and for an additional $59 per person per day you can get breakfast and a three-course dinner. In between your meals you can explore the area’s white-sand beaches and palm forests.
