They seemed like the perfect couple less than a week ago. Sandra Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side. Her husband, Jesse James, who looks more at home in a garage than on a red carpet, happily joined her and beamed with pride when she won. He told PEOPLE, “She’s beautiful. She’s amazing. She takes my breath away. Sometimes I look at her and I do, I just lose my breath.”
Now cut from the happy couple at the Academy Awards to the news today of rumors of a split due to infidelity. PEOPLE announced today that Sandra moved out of the family home in Los Angeles and a tabloid (which I later read online was In Touch Weekly) is reporting that Jesse has been cheating. The couple started dating in 2004 and were married a year later in a sunset ceremony.
Concern started on Monday when Sandra abruptly pulled out of the London premiere of The Blind Side. In a statement released to the press, Sandra said, “”Due to unforeseen personal reasons a trip abroad to support The Blind Side has been deemed impossible at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your continued support of the film.” The loss of Sandra at the event caused Warner Bros. to complete cancel it.
In what is now being referred to as the Best Actress Curse, Sandra has been paired with another Oscar winner, Kate Winslet, who announced the end of her marriage to Sam Mendes earlier this week. Actually, in the past 12 years, eight of the Best Actress winners – Reese Witherspoon (divorced Ryan Phillipe), Hilary Swank (divorced Chad Lowe), Charlize Theron (just split from long time love Stuart Townsend), Halle Berry (divorced Eric Benet), Julia Roberts (split with boyfriend Benjamin Bratt), Gwyneth Paltrow (split with boyfriend Ben Affleck), and Helen Hunt (divorced from Hank Azaria) – have split from significant others after their win.
Hum, when Sandra told Jesse at the Golden Globes “I love you so much, and you’re really hot. And I want you so much!” could she have meant she wanted him to stop cheating? Only time will tell.
