Meet Troy Dumais
Troy Dumais (pronounced “due-MAY”) is the son of Marc, a former professional French Canadian hockey and tennis player, and Kathleen Dumais. He has three brothers, Justin, Brice and Dwight, and one sister, Leanne. Troy has also played football, hockey, tennis, basketball and baseball. In 2006, he earned his B.S. degree from Texas in Exercise Science and plans to become a physical therapist. Troy has no favorite dives because he loves them all. He likes to talk, play games and listen to music as well as visualize between dives.
Why Root for Him?
Troy is looking to qualify for his third Olympic Games. The USA Diving 2006 Athlete of the Year won a pair of medals at last year’s FINA World Cup, claiming a silver with synchro partner Mitch Richeson in the men’s 3-meter synchronized event and adding bronze on men’s 3-meter to help the U.S. to its best World Cup finish since 1988. Troy won an individual bronze at the Speedo USA Diving Grand Prix as well. He and Richeson won a synchro silver at the USA Grand Prix and took bronze at the China Open. As a collegiate diver for Texas, he won the 2002 Men’s All-Around Award as NCAA Division I 1-meter and 3-meter champion.
