A great resource to have in your home is “True to the Faith: A Gospel Reference.” This was published by the church in 2004 and given out to the youth as a way to answer questions that they may be having. It is also specifically designed with new converts in mind. It is a wonderful resource to have on hand in your home. In the opening “Message from the First Presidency” it reads:
“This book is designed as a companion to your study of the scriptures and the teachings of latter-day prophets. We encourage you to refer to it as you study and apply gospel principles. Use it as a resource when you prepare talks, teach classes, and answer questions about the Church.
As you learn gospel truths, you will increase in your understanding of Heavenly Father’s eternal plan. With this understanding as a foundation for your life, you will be able to make wise choices, live in harmony with God’s will, and find joy in living. Your testimony will grow stronger. You will remain true to the faith.”
This book is laid out simply with the topics in alphabetical order. It is a reference guide, which you can easily turn to if you have a question on a certain topic you can quickly flip to that topic and read the church guidelines on the matter. The topics range from adversity to home teaching to unity. There are a wide variety of topics covered. It is a great companion to scripture study because you can easily flip to the subject you are studying to learn more about the topic.
