TV Star Diagnosed with Cancer

Kelly Bundy has cancer.

Christina Applegate, who is best known for playing sexy Kelly Bundy on the long-running sitcom “Married with Children”, has been diagnosed with breast cancer, according to her rep.

The 36-year-old “Samantha Who?” star is reportedly undergoing treatment in Los Angeles and doctors say she should expect a full recovery.

Applegate’s rep told news reporters that the actress was fortunate that her cancer was detected very early thanks to a MRI. The rep also noted that Applegate’s cancer is “not life threatening.”

The world will get to see how well Applegate is responding to her cancer treatments when she appears on live TV in September. The actress will be joining Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron and other A-list celebrities during the Stand Up to Cancer telethon, which is set to air simultaneously on CBS, NBC and ABC September 5th. The hour long special is designed to raise funds for cancer research.

While Applegate continues to receive treatment for cancer in California, actor Bernie Mac is receiving medical attention in Chicago.

Mac rep says the actor is being treated for pneumonia and is not close to death as reported by several publications.

“Bernie Mac is still alive and is expected to make a full recovery,” his rep told reporters.

The comedian, whose real name is Bernard Jeffery McCullough, was rushed to a Chicago hospital on Friday when he complained of severe pain.

Less than 24 hours later several entertainment magazines and even more celebrity websites began reporting that 50-year-old Mac was close to death. Some publications falsely reported that the pneumonia was related to the actor’s 2005 diagnosis of sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in organs such as the lungs or lymph nodes.

Following the erroneous reports, Mac’s rep issues a statement clarifying that the actor is responding well to treatment for pneumonia and should be released from the hospital in a few days.
