TV Star Expresses Shock About Britney Spears Appearing on Sitcom

Well, that didn’t take long.

Within hours of CBS announcing that Britney Spears landed a guest role on an upcoming episode of “How I Met Your Mother” the sitcom’s star went public expressing his shock about the news.

“I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting,” series regular Neil Patrick Harris told TV’s “Entertainment Tonight.”

Instead of revealing whether or not he would be sharing scenes with the troubled pop star the 34-year-old actor focused on Spears’ lack of acting experience.

“She hasn’t acted in a while,” Harris noted before adding, “This is a very interesting role. It is very not like her at all in real life in any of her previous chapters.”

According to show producers, the meltdown prone singer will be playing the secretary to another girl that Josh Radnor’s character is after.

“So, it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently,” Harris quipped.

Spears’ guest stint on “How I Met Your Mother” is set to air on March 24th.

Will you be watching?

If “How I Met Your Mother” was on NBC and you missed it Hulu.com could come in handy. (Unless you intentionally avoided watching the episode.)

The website, a joint venture between News Corp. and NBC Universal, plans to open its vast online library of ad-supported TV shows and movies to the public tomorrow.

According to company execs, subscribers will be able to view more than 250 full-length episodes of shows such as “The Simpsons,” “The Office,” and others from Bravo, Fuel TV, FX, Sci Fi, Style, Sundance, and Oxygen networks. Hulu will also be offering some 100 movies, including “The Big Lebowski” and “Ice Age.”

Short clips from films and TV shows such as “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Saturday Night Live” will also be available through the service, which is accessible at Hulu.com, as well as on America Online, Yahoo and other popular web portals. Hulu.com programming comes from 50 TV networks, movie studios and web-based producers of content.
