Twenty Two Weeks

Here we are at twenty two weeks of pregnancy. It seems that not a lot has changed since week twenty one, but that is because most changes in pregnancy are fairly subtle from week to week. A couple of things happened out of the ordinary but most things have remained constant.

Contrary to my belief that my nausea was a thing of the past, it resurfaced one morning during breakfast. I found myself running to the bathroom and trying to control my breathing to stifle the urge to throw up … it kind of worked but some of my breakfast did end up in the toilet. Luckily it was a one time occurrence and I do not anticipate it happening again.

Unlike last week, I have worked really hard to limit my sugar and grain intake with great success (compared to the week before). I do not include fruit in my sugar limiting however, nor do I include dairy (aside from ice cream). My diet has been largely consistent. I am still eating lots of protein and drinking lots of water. I am taking my prenatal vitamins and other supplements faithfully too!

My energy level this week has been great! I got in my five days of exercise without any difficulty and I even included a little bit more intense cardio workout which was fun! My biggest concern right now (aside from gaining too much weight) is loosing muscle mass especially loosing the tone in my arms. Thankfully, the cardio workout has a little but of free weight work that helps tone the arms and it is so low impact that I can probably continue the arm toning soon after our baby is born!

I feel like I am finally “looking” pregnant! Still I have only broken out a few maternity tank tops. At this point in the summer I am refusing to wear maternity pants (I find them incredibly uncomfortable especially with the heat). I am just hoping that my pre-pregnancy clothes will get me through the rest of the summer weather.
