Two Days ‘til Christmas

Well, there are only two more days until Christmas but that means only one more day until Christmas Eve. Since many people enjoy at least part of their celebration on Christmas Eve, time is getting short! What do you have planned for tomorrow?

If you still have things left to buy, hopefully you can get those last minute gifts or stocking stuffers today. Stores can be pretty crazy on Christmas Eve, but worse yet, they’re also likely to be very picked over. On the other hand, if you know a store that puts a lot of stuff on sale at a good discount on Christmas Eve, it might just be worth the adventure.

If you have all your gifts purchased, or once you get the rest, you can wrap, label, and sort. If you do plan to shop tomorrow, you might want to take time now to wrap and organize the items you currently have. When shopping, don’t forget to pick up extra batteries, if needed.

Have you baked Christmas cookies for Santa yet? This year, Santa will be enjoying white chocolate chunk macadamia nut cookies at our house (along with the decorated sugar cookies). I bet Mrs. Santa can almost taste those cookies now…

If you’re going to be traveling tomorrow, you might want to lay out clothes, shoes (or boots), coats, and gloves tonight so nobody is scrambling around tomorrow trying to locate them. Prepare any food that you can make ahead tonight so it’s ready to go tomorrow when you are. I also like to give an extra call either the night before, or just before I get ready to leave for someone’s house, just in case they need me to bring another dish or pick up an extra bag of ice or something along the way.

Do you have games or activities to entertain the kids in the car if you’re traveling far, or to entertain children that will be visiting your home? This is an especially good idea if little children will be coming over and you don’t have little ones living with you. I remember when I was very small, my grandparents had a box of toys and coloring stuff in one closet for when we grandchildren visited. They added something new to it on Christmas and other special occasions, like a new game or some fresh crayons.
