Two Tasty Coffee Desserts

If you make some coffee (or hot chocolate or tea) to help keep warm, you might want to try one of these recipes for yummy desserts to go with your drink.

Starbucks Heath Bars

You will need butter and margarine both, white sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, all purpose flour, 1 12-ounce package of chocolate chunks, 1 12-ounce package of Nestle white chocolate chips, 8 Heath bars, salt, vanilla, and eggs.

In a large bowl, combine 3/4 cup of butter, 3/4 cup of margarine, 1 1/4 cup of white sugar, 1 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 3 eggs. To that, add 4 cups of flour and mix well. Once that is mixed, add one 12-ounce package of chocolate chunks, 1 12-ounce package of white chocolate chips, and 8 Heath bars (coarsely chopped). Spread your mixture onto a 15 x 19 inch greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Starbucks Orange Oatmeal Flat Scones

You will need all purpose flour, oatmeal, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, unsalted butter, eggs, orange juice, boyajian orange or tangerine oil or extract, milk, orange zest, and raisins. You will also need a round cookie cutter.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees then line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, mix 2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour, 2 cups of oatmeal, 1 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Mix well. Rub in 1/2 cup of unsalted butter (cut into small chunks) to make a mealy mixture. Stir in one egg and 1/2 cup of orange juice then add 1/4 teaspoon of orange or tangerine oil or extract. Knead for a few minutes on a lightly floured surface until dough is soft. Using a rolling pin, roll dough until it is 1/2 inch thick. Cut round pieces with your cookie cutter. Brush each piece with a little bit of milk and sprinkle with sugar and orange zest. Cook for about 10-14 minutes until brown.
