Two Yummy Appetizers For Your Next Get Together

I love appetizers. They’re small and lovely and usually provide a burst of flavor in your mouth. These recipes are especially delicious. I hope you’ll try them at your next get together.

Date Nut Sticks

This recipe is sweet and chewy. It’s a delicious change from traditional appetizers and one that will have your guests begging for more and wanting the recipe.

For this recipe you’ll need:

1 ½ sticks butter

2 eggs

2 cups granulated sugar

1 (8oz) package chopped dates

1 cup chopped pecans

1 ½ cups Rice Krispies cereal

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

2 cups sweetened flaked coconut

To make this recipe:

In a medium saucepan, add butter, eggs, and sugar. Mix together and let the butter melt.

Add the chopped dates to the mixture and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and allow the mixture to cook for ten minutes, stirring constantly.

Add the chopped pecans, rice cereal, and vanilla to the mixture and stir well. Pour the mixture into a bowl and let it cool slightly.

Either dip your hands in ice water or butter your hands and form the mixture into logs approximately 3 inches long. Roll each log in flaked coconut.

Twice Baked Crackers:

This is an amazingly simply yet very delicious recipe. Serve this once and it’ll instantly become a classic for all of your get-togethers.

For this recipe you’ll need:

Desired amount of white crackers (round)

Enough parmesan cheese to allow for 1 TB of grated cheese per cracker

Enough bacon to allow for one slice of bacon for every TWO crackers

To make this recipe, top each cracker with 1 Tablespoon parmesan cheese. Cut the pieces of bacon in half horizontally and wrap one piece of bacon around each cracker.

Place the crackers on a cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 250 degree oven for 2 hours.
