Types of Baby Shower Games

Are you feeling a little bit stressed because you are hosting a baby shower but have no idea how to entertain guests? Chances are the age of the guests will vary so you want to choose games that the majority will appreciate and enjoy. Keep in mind that you cannot and will not make everyone happy so by choosing some of the old favorites along with some of the newer games, you cover yourself as well as possible.

The baby name game is always a favorite. For this, you will need paper and pencils passed out to each guests. Then, set the timer for 10 minutes, asking them to write down all the possible baby names. To make the game more fun, put restrictions on it. For instance, if the mother knows she is having a girl, then have only girl’s names chosen. Otherwise, you could choose two or three specific letters of the alphabet for the beginning letter of the name. The individual who ends up with the most names on the list after the 10-minute timeframe wins, receiving some type of small prize.

Another game people always enjoy is the measurement of the mother’s stomach. For this game, you will need a new roll of yarn and scissors. As these are passed around, have each person cut a piece of yarn to the size they believe the mother’s tummy is. To help, you might have her stand from time to time. Once all the yarn has been cut, each piece would be wrapped around the widest point of the stomach and the person that comes closest to being correct, again wins.

You might consider another favorite baby shower game – the tray game. In this case, you will need a large serving tray. On the tray, place about 30 items pertaining to a baby. For instance, you could add a rattle, jar of peas, socks, washcloth, teething ring, hairbrush, pacifier, etc. Place the tray in the middle of where the guests are seated, providing 60 seconds to memorize each item. Then pass around paper and pencils and set the timer to five minutes. During this time, each guest would need to write down as many of the items remembered. The person that has the most correct items written down would receive a small token. Of course, the items on the tray would be given to the mother.
