(The antithesis of an ugly baby.)
Have you ever met a mother who thought her baby was anything but beautiful?
Sure, there’s that saying: “A face only a mother could love.” Which basically translates to: “You are one ugly…”
But really, what mother is going to admit to others that she birthed an ugly child?
Thinking it is one thing, but actually hearing your voice release the words into the universe yields an entirely different type of shame.
And isn’t there enough Mommy guilt in the world?
Ugly babies are not an anomaly. Neither is discussing them.
Remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry and Elaine try to keep the vomit in their mouths after catching sight of their friend Carol’s hideous-looking baby?
Allow me to refresh your memory:
Carol: Adam (the baby’s name), Jerry and Elaine are here.
Elaine: Oh, he’s a cute little schnugly baby.
Carol: Isn’t he gorgeous? (Elaine looks at baby, only to be frightened and turn away.)
Elaine: Ugghh.
Carol: Is she gorgeous? (Elaine and Jerry looking away.)
Elaine: Oh, gorgeous, yes.
Jerry: So very gorgeous.
So what if you have a cute kid with an ugly name?
Does the unattractive moniker make the child appear less than adorable?
(Dying from the cuteness!)
Members of the Twitterverse seem to think so.

So, what do you think? Is beauty truly in the eye (or ear) of the beholder?
