You could call it the “Rockin’ Waffle” or maybe the “Wild Waffle.” Whatever you call it fans of Kid Rock are going to be in for a real treat in a few hours.
The rocker, who is performing at Atlanta’s Gwinnett Arena Tuesday night, will be making a pit stop earlier in the day at the Waffle House in Duluth, Georgia. The same place he was arrested for battery after getting into a fight last October. (The singer pleaded no contest to the charges.)
Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, will return to the Waffle House to meet fans and sign autographs. In the process the singer says he is hoping to raise money for a worthwhile charity. According to event organizers, all proceeds from Kid Rock’s appearance, which begins at 2 p.m., will benefit Nicholas House, a homeless shelter for families in DeKalb County.
Local radio stations have been promoting Kid Rock’s appearance like mad and organizers say they are expecting huge crowds this afternoon. Several rock stations have auctioned off passes to the Waffle House event, as well as tickets to the concert and a backstage meet-and-greet.
She might not be as wild as Kid Rock, but actress Charlize Theron is as passionate about helping those as need as any Hollywood celebrity. And to prove it Theron appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” today to donate her one-of-a-kind Narciso Rodriguez gown that she wore to the Cannes Film Festival in 2000 (her first visit to the legendary event).
The size 4 bias-cut silk gown encrusted with Swarovski crystals is currently up on eBay and proceeds from the auction will benefit The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, which was created by the actress in partnership with the Entertainment Industry Foundation. The project’s goal is to create a safer, healthier and better life for impoverished children and their families in South Africa, especially those suffering from HIV/AIDS.
