We shouldn’t be amazed at the way God works, but sometimes I still am, especially when God even answers the unspoken desires of my heart. I don’t mean the world shattering answers to prayer, in the major issues in life, although that’s great too. But also when God acts in the little, seemingly inconsequential, details of life.
My blog today gives an example. Since I am still relatively new at choir, last week I was asked to pick a favorite song for us to sing. I picked ‘Climb Every Mountain.’
Afterwards, I wished I could have had two choices. My other choice would have been, ‘You Raise Me Up’ which I have on CD by Josh Groban.
Since moving house it’s been almost impossible to find a CD as they were shoved in the CD holder any which way. This week when it was raining and he couldn’t work out in the yard, my husband painstakingly put them into alphabetical order. And, we do have lots of CDS as we both love music and often buy them or suggest them as ideas for birthday presents etc.
Before I left for choir I sifted through the CDs to find one of my two Josh Groban CDs with ‘You Raise Me Up’ on it.
To me, this song conveys what the Lord Jesus does for me. Jesus helps me when I am weary. If I wait on Him, He comes and speaks to me through His words and through the prompting of the Holy Spirit. He helps me through the troubled times, which I equate to ‘stormy seas’ and enables me to do things I could never do on my own. In that way He raises us up to be more than what we are. This all went through my mind, as I sang along with Josh Groban on the way to choir.
After supper our choir leader announced we were going to learn a new song, which although in our books we had not sung before. It was, of course, ‘You Raise Me Up.’
I think it’s great when God answers our prayers and heart’s desires in the big things in life, but when He reaches down to co-ordinate even these little things, it is very special. I know the world would say it’s just co-coincidence. But all I know is that co-incidences, or God-incidences as I like to call them, happen when I pray and am in fellowship with the Lord.
