Hard to find items are even harder to find when you only shop used. Regular thrift stores may not carry odd sizes, and you may not find a used ukulele in your average music stop. What can you do? Check out the following unusual but effective places to find those hard to find useful used items.
Diet Center
If you need larger-sized clothing, post an ad at a diet center saying that you are looking to buy. Mention the type of clothing and the sizes that you need. You may find plenty of people that would be willing to sell or even give away their larger sized clothing as they own shape changes. You may wind up with plenty of good quality clothes for pennies on the dollar.
Also post your ad at women only fitness centers to double your chances of success.
School Music Department
School music departments often get donations of instruments that they cannot use. Most schools concentrate on teaching just a few instruments. Therefore, they may have a stock of hard to find ones, such as any instrument that is not a violin, cello, flute, guitar or clarinet. Call around to a couple of schools and see if they have any instruments available that they would be willing to sell for a discount.
The “Junkie”
Need a used car part? Head over to the local junkyard where almost every kind of car comes to, well, get junked. Just because it is from another car does not mean that it isn’t solid and usable. Many garages will offer used parts, but the cost to get them can make the difference between new and used not worth the effort. Get the used parts yourself to save big. If you can install them yourself, that is even more savings!
