It can be fun, exciting, and entertaining to attend a genealogy event, class, or workshop. Before you can do that, though, you have to find them. Here are some upcoming genealogy events that will take place this week. There could be one near you!
On April 23, 2012, the Charlevoix Public Library, which is located in Charlevoix, Michigan, will continue its series of genealogy classes. This one is called “Using the Internet to Find Your Ancestors”. The class will be taught by professional genealogist Carol McWain Goodenough, and her associate, Barbara Manley Hernden. The class begins at 6:30 in the evening and ends at 7:45 at night.
On April 25, 2012, the Spoon River College of Community Outreach, which is located in Canton, Illinois, will hold a class called “Genealogy Projects”. This class will let you get creative with a variety of genealogy projects including: printing various types of family trees, grave stone rubbings, and ways to organize and display family photographs. Tips will be given on how to organize a family reunion. This class will start at 5:30 in the evening, and will end at 8:00 at night.
On April 28, 2012, the Delmarva Christian High School, which is located in Georgetown, Delaware, will host a Sussex County Genealogical Society one-day conference. The conference is called “Tracking Your Ancestors II”. It will cover: “Pitfalls and Pratfalls”, “Men of the Same Name”, “Land Platting”, “Online Genealogy”, “Beyond Ancestry and Family Search”, and “Military Research”.
On April 28, 2012, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is located in Ventura, California, will host a free Family History Conference given by the Ventura County Genealogical Society meeting. Teaching staff from the Los Angeles Family History Library will provide classroom instruction on genealogical research at both the beginning and intermediate levels. This is available from 8:30 in the morning until 4:15 in the afternoon.
On April 28, 2012, The Fayette Heritage Library, which is located in LaGrange, Texas, will host a meeting of the Fayette County Genealogical Society. Carolyn Heinsohn will present “Genealogy Quest – Old Medical Terminology, Archaic and Obselete Terms”. She will discuss the various archaic terms that genealogists encounter when researching old records, journals, or family correspondence.
