Want to find a genealogy event, conference, or workshop that is taking place near you? Look over this quick list of genealogy events that are happening between December 18, 2011, and December 24, 2011. If you don’t see one that is close to where you are, you could also try checking your local newspaper to see if it lists any interesting genealogy events.
On December 19, 2011, The Main Library, located in Aurora, Illinois, will have Genealogy Walk-In Assistance, for adults ages 19 or older. This will be offered from 10:00 in the morning to 12:30 in the afternoon. It will be a one-on-one session that can help you with your family history questions.
On December 19, 2011, the Shrewsbury Public Library, located in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, will be where the Shrewsbury Genealogy Club will hold their monthly meeting. It will start at 7:00 in the evening. Anyone who is interested in family history and genealogy is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
On December 20, 2011, a “Genealogy Show and Tell” will take place at the Rock Arbor Villa, in Bend, Oregon. It is being presented by the Bend Genealogical Society. The event will be followed by Christmas potluck. It is free to attend, and will begin at 10:00 in the morning.
On December 20, 2011, The Conejo Valley Genealogical Society, will hold a holiday potluck and officer installation. This will begin at 6:00 in the evening, and will end at 8:45 in the evening. It will take place at the Grant R. Brimhall Library, located in Thousand Oaks, California. Those who attend are asked bring a dish for six to eight people. The meeting site is wheelchair accessible.
On December 21, 2011, the Morningside Library, located in Port St. Lucie, Florida, will hold a genealogy meeting. The meeting will start at 9:45 in the morning and will end at 11:45 in the morning. It will cost adults $3.50 to attend, and you must register before you arrive.
On December 23, 2011, the South Mainland Library, located in Micco, Florida, will hold a genealogy meeting. This meeting will start at 1:00 in the afternoon, and will end at 3:00 in the afternoon. This is for adults only, and you must register before you attend.
The Springvale Public Library, located in Springvale, Maine, wants to let genealogists know that it now has access to the Ancestry.com website. Genealogist volunteers are available to help you on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
