Each and every week, there are plenty of genealogy courses, workshops, conferences, and events happening. All you have to do is find one, and figure out what you need to do in order to attend it. Here is a quick list of some of the genealogy events that are going on this week. There could be one near you!
On July 16, 2012, the Ela Area Public Library, which is located in Lake Zurich, Illinois, will have a meeting of the library’s Genealogy Interest Group (GIG). It will begin at 3:00 in the afternoon, and will end at 5:00 in the evening.
The topic for this meeting will be “Finding your English Ancestors: The Big Four”. It will be presented by Paul Milner, a genealogist and lecturer. You will learn how to examine available indexes and interpret the four primary record groups for English research.
On July 18, 2012, the B.J. Chain Public Library, which is located in Olive Branch, Mississippi, will hold a free basic genealogy workshop. It will be presented by the Olive Branch Genealogy Club. The workshop will begin at noon, and will end at 2:00 in the afternoon. This workshop will be presented by Tina Sansone, and will cover “Using Family Search and Heritage Quest Databases”.
On July 19, 2012, the West Valley Genealogical Society Library, which is located in Maricopa County, Arizona, will hold a Research Night. It will begin at 5:00 in the evening, and will end at 9:00 at night. Society membership is not required.
Bring a brown bag supper, and a beverage and dessert will be supplied for $3.50. You can browse the library, use the print and media resources, learn about the genealogical society, and visit with other genealogists. Those who are interested should call the library to register.
On July 20, 2012, the West Valley Genealogical Society Library, which is located in Maricopa County, Arizona, will hold a Novice Genealogy Class. Learn the first steps that will get you started on genealogy research. The cost of the class is $9.00 for members and $11 for non-members.
On July 21, 2012, Sams House at Pine Island, which is located on Merritt Island, Florida, will have a free presentation in their “Explore Our History” Series. This is the third part of the series.
Learn how to use the British Royal Family Pedigree as a template, and use it to create your own family tree. Participants will make a family tree that is worthy of display. Please bring photos of your family members with you. Craft materials will be provided. This presentation will begin at 10:00 in the morning, and will end at 11:00 in the morning.
