Ready to take a genealogy class, to check out a genealogy workshop, or to attend a genealogy event? There are plenty of them happening, all across the United States. Here are a few upcoming genealogy events that will be going on this week. Maybe one is located near you!
On March 26, 2012, the Webster Memorial Library, which is located in Decatur, Michigan, will have a program presented by the Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society. It is called “Navigating the 1890 Gap: Research with State Census Records”. It will be presented by Kris Rzepczynski, a professional genealogist and lecturer. The program will begin at 7:00 in the evening.
Preceding the program, there will be a “Family History Essentials” class, which talks about the Library of Michigan and the resources available in it.
On March 27, 2012, the Fort Pierce Library, which is located in Fort Pierce, Florida, will have volunteers from the Treasure Coast Genealogical Society on hand to help you with your genealogy research. They will be available from 9:00 in the morning until noon. The volunteers will return to the library, to offer more help, on March 29, 2012.
On March 28, 2012, the Recreation Department at the Milano Senior Center, which is located in Melrose, Massachusetts, will hold the first of three genealogy workshop. Each class will take place on a Wednesday, from 6:00 in the evening to 7:00 at night. The first workshop will be about organizing and protecting family information and photographs. If you want to attend, you must register by March 27, 2012.
On March 28, 2012, the Morningside Library, which is located in Port St. Lucie, Florida, will have One-On-One genealogy assistance. It will be provided by the Family History Researchers. They will be there starting at 12:30 in the afternoon until 4:00 in the afternoon.
On March 30, 2012, the Longview Public Library, which is located in Longview, Washington, will have a Genealogy Lock-In. It will begin at 6:00 in the evening, and will end at midnight. Library computers will be available for free access to the Footnote database of military records, the Dawes Rolls, and the Newsbank Historical Newspapers database, (which dates back to the 1600’s). Snacks and drinks are allowed.
On March 31, 2012, the Stone Zoo, which is located in Stoneham, Massachusetts, will end its “Irish Heritage Month”. There will be performances by the Woods School of Irish Dance at noon and at 1:00 in the afternoon.
