Madonna’s divorce from Guy Ritchie has been front-page news in British papers for nearly a week now.
The Mail, The Sun and just about every other tabloid, entertainment publication and traditional print source has been rolling out daily pieces on the embattled couple.
Here are a few of the juicier bits being reported by papers across the pond:
The Mail is accusing Madonna of stooping to a new low by dragging her kids into the middle of her ugly divorce. Yesterday TMZ posted a shot of Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s young son Rocco wearing a Yankee’s t-shirt while playing at a New York gym. The paper claims that the Material mama made her son don the shirt as a way to irk her estranged husband. For those of you who have been living under a rock, Madonna is rumored to be in a relationship with Yankees third baseman, Alex Rodriquez. In fact, Britain’s The Sun has gone as far as to report that Madonna is planning to go public with her relationship with the hunky athlete before Christmas because she wants to have his child.
Meanwhile, another British paper is throwing their support in Madonna’s direction by calling Ritchie “the male version of Heather Mills.” Reports claim Guy Ritchie gives new meaning to the word “cheap” and may be an even bigger gold digger than Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills. According to various papers, Ritchie lived off of Madonna during their entire 7-year marriage. As one source puts it: “For his entire marriage to Madonna, Guy lived like a king. He never spent a dime of his own money for their lifestyle.”
Finally, The Sun is reporting that rumors of a $60 million divorce settlement between the warring parties are just that—-rumors. According to sources close to Ritchie’s camp, there’s no way that Guy will settle for anything less than $100 million. As for the couple’s children, that’s where things are reportedly getting even nastier. Madonna reportedly wants to move back to New York City with the couple’s children, but Ritchie claims that she’ll do so over his “dead body.”
No love lost there.
