Last week word got out that Giorgio Armani was chosen to create the wedding party’s attire, including the bride’s dress, now we know the exact date Katie Holmes and fiancé Tom Cruise will be donning their designer duds.
Cruise’s rep has confirmed that the couple will wed in Italy on November 18th. Those who have been closely following the good looking two-some speculate that the choice of wedding venue in some ways brings Cruise and Holmes full-circle: You’ll remember their first public outing as a couple, in spring 2005, was in Italy. About a year later, the pair welcomed daughter Suri, and the world (well, at least the paparazzi) anxiously awaited the nuptials, which some are already heralding as the “wedding of the decade.” So why wait so long to tie the knot? Cruise told Good Housekeeping in June that he and Holmes had waited to wed until after Suri was born because they wanted their daughter to be at the ceremony.
While Cruise and company put the final touches on their wedding plans, their pals George Clooney, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts and Don Cheadle are standing in line… not to get an invite to the wedding, rather the stars are appearing in a public service announcement that shows them patiently waiting their turn at a voting booth. But they’re not promoting a candidate or political party. The ad is an effort to raise support for ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History.
“This is a first step in a long-term effort to start making the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty part of the election conversation, and Americans can be part of that by joining ONE.org,” Matt Damon says in the spot, which is slated to run through November 7th’s Election Day.
The PSA started airing Monday on MTV and will also run on FOX, Comedy Central, Spike TV and other stations, as well as MySpace.com and YouTube.com.
