Do you have one product that you use for bathing, one that you use to soak your foot, one that you use to clean your face one to help with your arthritis, and one you use to exfoliate your skin? Did you know you could use one simple product to do all that?
Epsom salt has been around for years and years, but some people overlook its usefulness. Maybe it’s because they think it is too inexpensive to do any good or maybe they look at it as “just being salt.”
You may have soaked in Epsom salt before and know that just a few cups of it in your bath can be very relaxing. But, did you know that soaking in Epsom salt may also draw toxins out of your skin? It can also exfoliate – who doesn’t need that?
But, Epsom salt is great for other uses. Sometimes I come home and my feet are killing me from standing all day. They are rough and cracked, but soaking those feet in just 1/2 cup of Epsom salt can help them feel much better.
Ever sprain your ankle or get a bruise on your hand? Did you know that Epsom salt can help reduce swelling? And, because it is a salt, it can also draw out a splinter. If you don’t want to soak your hand (or wherever the splinter is) that long, put some bacon fat on the area and put a Band-Aid on. That will do the trick too!
If you want to use Epsom salt as a facial cleanser, add a half teaspoon to your regular cream. Massage this into your skin then rinse for great exfoliation. You can also make a skin mask from 1 egg, 1/4 cup of non-fat milk, lemon juice, and a half teaspoon of Epsom salt.
So next time you are at the beauty counter or pharmacy looking for a product, give Epsom salt a try!
