Working from home will almost always require a computer and an Internet connection. Being handcuffed to your desk all day to be in reaching distance of your keyboard is the last thing most of us want. Many are looking for alternatives methods to getting work done on the go or even sitting on their front porch. Laptops are a popular way many have found to take their office on the road. Recently, I mentioned how I was able to use my iPhone for business. The apps available such as Paypal, Pages, TurboScan, and Blogsy, are making freelance writing and other businesses accessible outside of the home office. One more alternative is a tablet.
Recently, I purchased an iPad. I never intended for the iPad to replace a computer or a laptop. I wanted a lightweight device that could go online and give me many of the same features as my iPhone. The iPad was the logical option. I loved using my iPhone so much that I thought an iPad would be a perfect fit.
What I Love About the iPad:
Stability of the operating system and no virus worries.
iCloud and DropBox which makes sharing information from device to device simple so you can always have access to your files.
Portable. I can just put it in my purse an go.
Have complete access to Internet and the ability to blog and write.
Educational apps are fantastic for the kids so it has other uses for the family.
Pages allows me to make PDF files or email the files as .doc files.
What I Wish I Had or not Fond of:
Storage. I do not have the ability to download files and images from online. If a site requires I upload a photo or file, I cannot accommodate that.
I am not fond of the keyboard. It takes getting used to and I am getting better but for me, I am not as fast on it as I am on a regular keyboard.
