Through all its flaws, foibles, and constant change, Facebook still feels the love. It is estimated that one in 12 people in the world have a Facebook account. That alone makes it a necessary component to your business social media exploits. We are sucked in and tolerate timelines, glitches, and privacy changes, because it brings us closer to those around us, gives us better access to clients, and maintains a quick mode of communication between friends and business associates. Facebook is like that popular girl in school that everyone wonders how she got to be so popular and how they still put up with her. Yet, it remains my favorite social media outlet for business communication. If Pinterest had a communication component it may beat it out but it would be close. With so many Facebook users and so much flexibility it makes it a great mode of communication not only for business can clients but for business to employees and associates with associates.
The only reason I have to stay on Facebook is for the easy and efficient communication it provides with business associates. I currently run a few Facebook pages, one Facebook group, and belong to three other groups that directly relate to business or blogging. I also have a few friendly groups and a few groups to share blog posts and review opportunities. It is a fantastic way to communicate with a large group of people at one time. It is so much easier to announce something in a Facebook group then to email a dozen to five dozen individuals. On Facebook, everyone can effectively communicate in a large group without a bunch of back and forth emailing, texting, skyping, or calling. I just spent a whole day working and chatting about a project through Facebook. If I had to email and answer emails from the group it would have taken twice as long. The ability to chat and work online at the same time made things so much easier when working with a group.
This method is not always the most efficient and could potentially be a terrible distraction. However, wisely using Facebook as opposed to emailing a whole group can simplify and increase productivity.
