Staying motivated while working from home can be a struggle for some. Just the comfort of being at home, the pull of doing other things or the beckoning of the bed can be enough to make it difficult to stay motivated.
I find it a struggle every-so-often, especially if I was up late the night before. While technically I could sleep in later since I work from home, I choose not to. That’s because I believe in sticking to a schedule. I would rather finish my work earlier in the day if I can.
No matter how you “feel,” just keep working. Don’t stop or give up. You may need a short reprieve which is fine if you know you are going to be able to get right back to what you were doing.
Some days I don’t feel productive. I feel like my creative juices have been plugged. But if you push through it, you will find the energy return and the creative juices will begin flowing again. If we always went with how we feel, we would probably never get anything done.
Sometimes it helps to keep a list. You put together a list the night before of what you want to accomplish the next day. However it might help to break up your list. For instance one column might be things that have to be done. There is no way you can get away with not accomplishing those particular tasks.
Then in another column you might list things that don’t have to be done but you would like to. If you get to them, great and if not, they can be moved onto the next day.
Then in the third column are things that you need to eventually get to that week. What’s nice about this system is that you don’t feel guilty if you don’t get to the second or third column but if you do, then you feel like you have tackled the world.
Lists may be the motivating factor for you. What other ways have you kept yourself motivated while working from home?
