If you want a surefire way to boost your business then take advantage of the numerous opportunities available with social media.
Social media has become the way to promote and service your product, whether it is a tangible item or a writing project. Opportunities abound with blogging, You Tube, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Depending on the type of work you do and the audience you are trying to reach, these may be just the tools you need to boost your business.
Facebook is probably the social media source that I use the most. It took some time to establish my contacts, which are known as “friends” on Facebook. What I like about Facebook is that you can also create a fan page or group page to promote your work.
Since my work is writing, blogging is another favorite source that I use. However I can use blogging and Facebook together, which doubles my opportunity to promote what I do. After I blog, I post it in my Facebook status.
Even if your business doesn’t involve writing, blogging about your product could help. I recently read an article that stated how guest bloggers can really impact the value of your blog. If you can have satisfied customers guest blog about their experience with your business, that gives you more credibility.
Twitter is another way to not only stay connected to your clients but you can include links to your business. If you make a change or update your product, you can inform all of your “followers” on Twitter.
You Tube is a great way to demonstrate your work so that potential customers can see for themselves what they are getting. I personally have used You Tube to learn how to cross-stitch certain patterns. Someone who is selling cross-stitch patterns would benefit from having a You Tube video where they demonstrate a cross-stitch pattern. The video can end with the web address to their site.
Finally, LinkedIn is a great way to connect with others and get recommendations for your work. I am fairly new to LinkedIn so I am still working my way around it.
Don’t be afraid to try something new. Since social media seems to be the most popular way these days to get a message across, it could just be the way to boost your business.
