Using Strips of Paper

I love paper. It is what I spend most of my scrapbooking budget on. And, when there is a paper I REALLY love, I keep all my scraps. So, I like coming up with ideas of how you can use strips of paper on your layout, to get a clean, simple look.

My first idea, that I have used on a layout of my own, is to cut five strips of patterned papers that you love in equal length and width. Use either black or white cardstock for the background of the layout. Place the photo, or photos, you are using off to one side of the page. If using multiple photos, then overlap them, or cluster them closely together. Then, use the strips of paper, and lay them out next to the photo. Place them side by side, with an equal distance between them. But, alternate them by placing every other one at a different height. Doodle around each strip of paper, and around your photo. Place a cute embellishment over a couple of the strips, and maybe a journaling tag, and your layout will look like this:

The second idea would be great for scrapping those photo booth photos. I never know exactly how to scrapbook studio photos, and photos that you take in a photo booth, and I saw a very simple idea that I loved. To see the layout I’m referring to, look here. The scrapper achieved a very simple look and did not have to use a lot of supplies. I have photo booth pictures of my own that I plan on scrapping and will probably use this image as my model in scraplifting! She just cut strips of paper, laid them out, overlapping each one, and then placed the photo booth photos on top. Voila! This way you can use multiple strips of paper that you love, on one layout. By using a neutral color for the background, you will have more versatility in choosing different patterned papers for your strips.

When I think of scrapbooking, I think of scraps of paper, and hopefully these ideas will help you use those scraps you have laying in your drawer. Happy Scrapping!
