Finding items around your house to serve as beautiful season and holiday decorations is easy once you start using your imagination. Humans tend to be natural born pack rats and we have tons of items cluttering, or not cluttering our homes that we can use to decorate for Christmas.
In yesterday’s article I shared a couple of ideas using a wagon, a baby pool and a planter box. Today I offer up still more household items that can be turned into an amazing Christmas decoration with very little work at all!
Collecting More Than Dust
Most people have a collection of something. And usually that collection is prominently displayed. My sister has several different types of collections and one is snowman. At holiday time she removes all the other collectibles and fills her custom built shelves with her snowman adding an instant Christmas flair to the entire living room. But most of us don’t have the luxury of doing such a thing. Instead, move your collection to new areas in your home and drape evergreen, holly and other greenery around the clusters of collectibles. To add a touch of color you can use gold, silver or red bows to tie onto the greenery.
A Picture Worth a Thousand Words
Getting enlargements of photos from a Christmas past is fairly inexpensive these days. If you have several pictures on your living room walls, remove the everyday pictures and replace with Christmas photos. Instantly you have some Christmas in the room without doing a lot. You can use calendar prints, magazine pictures and children’s drawings with a holiday theme too.
Presenting a Frame
Remove frames from your wall and wrap in beautiful seasonal wrapping paper. Tie a ribbon around it leaving a big bow on the front. Rehang the picture frame on the wall and you now have presents adorning your walls and it cost practically nothing!
Wrap It In Ribbon
For a very low cost you can purchase spools of seasonal or holiday ribbon in all sorts of colors, and sizes. The wider the ribbon, the bigger the bow. Tie bows around vases, stair case spindles, flower pot bases, and anything else you can think of. Even just a few strategically placed bows will add such a lift to your room!
