While you may have plans to do something special with or for your spouse on Valentine’s Day, it can also be an event celebrated by the entire family. Your home can become a Valentine’s Day wonderland with just a few quick, special touches.
Balloons
I love balloons. They are festive and make great decorations for any occasion. Even just a few plain red balloons will change the mood, although you can find a great assortment of styles and colors especially for Valentine’s Day.
Streamers
You don’t have to reserve streamers for birthday parties. They add color and fun to any occasion. Twist red and white, pink and white, or red, white, and pink together. You can really use any colors you like, but I love bright red, especially for Valentine’s Day.
Stuffed Animals
A cute, inexpensive stuffed animal can be arranged to look as if it is holding a vase of flowers or a dish of candy. This is a cute way to dress things up for your kiddos. Miniature stuffed animals also make great weights for helium balloons.
Valentines and Goodies
All those special candies and other goodies also make nice decorative touches. Use Valentine inspired treats to decorate your dining table or to dress up the coffee table. You can also make a great table-scape by standing up Valentines cards and bunching up some tissue paper or extra streamers around the bottoms for filler. Add some heart or flower picks too.
Interchangeable Decorations
Pull out that red tablecloth from Christmas and use it again for Valentine’s Day. There are many different ways to reuse holiday decorations to make every occasion more festive.
Children’s Artwork
Your kids can help you decorate by creating some awesome Valentine’s Day artwork. They can make pictures to hang up or make paper placemats to use during Valentine’s Day dinner. Check out Family Fun for some great ideas.
