Valentine’s Day for those Deployed

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Are you ready? In the military you need to start thinking a few weeks ahead of time, at least if your service member is overseas. Packages will be sent out from now until the week of Valentine’s Day just to make it to the loved ones. No one likes being left out, especially when they are miles away from everyone they love. Even a card with a handprint from a child says, “I love you.”

What types of things could you send a loved one so far away? Certain types of magazines are definitely out of the question as well as any other type of porn, which includes pictures of yourself in no clothes to spice up those love letter pages. Please keep in mind everything you send over there can also be looked at by others by mistake. However, this does not mean don’t send them anything, other items like perfume scented letters aren’t and a few wives have sent over and regular pictures of yourself or your children. Maybe a picture of where the two of you met or got married.

A box of chocolates, but keep in mind they could melt before they get to them. Hey, women aren’t the only ones that have a sweet tooth. If you are worried about chocolate or other candy melting you can get those conversation hearts. You may even try sending him a message that way. Only send him a few packages at a time with short, sweet messages to him. A little stuffed animal with your perfume, or even a card would be a nice touch. Now, not all men are lovely dove-y, so you may try sending things you know are his favorites. This is a great way of showing him you really do love him and know what he likes.

Either way, start sending those packages out, oh and don’t forget to bake a batch of those cookies he loves. What types of things have you sent a loved one?
