Valentine’s Day Love in the Kitchen

I wish Paula Deen would adopt me. I don’t want a part of her millions; I just want to eat a few meals at her home. I could be the hungry daughter she never had. Please, Paula!

The Food Network star and celebrity chef is a ball of fire in the kitchen. However, the one thing I find even more enticing than her mouthwatering dishes is her hilarious titles for them. Actually, it’s not the titles themselves that I find so funny, but the way Deen delivers them with so much aplomb.

Earlier today I caught an episode of her show where she whipped up “Love in a Bowl.” It made me think of Valentine’s Day and a few tried and true recipes I have that could be renamed “Love in a Bowl.”

If you are looking for some sweet treats to make your honey this Love Day, consider the following recipes (none of which are Paula Dean’s–sorry):

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bites

Ingredients:

1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup marshmallow creme

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 box Athens Mini Fillo Shells

15 Hershey Kisses

Directions:

In a small bowl, place peanut butter, marshmallow and vanilla. Blend well.

Spoon one heaping teaspoon of filling into each Fillo Shell.

Top each treat with a Hershey’s Kiss.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup flour

1/4 cup chopped peanuts

1/4 cup sugar

5 ounces butter, melted

1 1/4 cup heavy cream

2 cups chocolate

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup peanut butter

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine flour, peanuts, sugar and butter in medium bowl.

Press dough evenly onto bottom and side of a 10-inch tart pan. Bake for 15 minutes.

Remove and cool.

To make filling, heat the cream to a simmer. Pour over chocolate and butter. Mix until smooth.

Combine peanut butter and powdered sugar in small bowl.

To assemble spread peanut butter filling onto bottom of prepared crust.

Pour chocolate mixture over the top.

Refrigerate for three hours or until firm.

Love Day Chocolate Raspberry Pie

Ingredients:

1 cup white chocolate chips, melted

1 tablespoon soft cream cheese

1 tablespoon sour cream

6 ounces soft cream cheese

1/3 cup sugar

1 1/2 cups Cool Whip

2 cups raspberry pie filling

1 pint of fresh raspberries

Directions:

Mix the white chocolate, one tablespoon cream cheese and sour cream together and spread on crust.

Mix 6 ounces of cream cheese, sugar, and Cool Whip together, then spread onto the white chocolate mixture.

Spread the raspberry pie filling over the cream cheese layer.

Garnish with Cool Whip and fresh raspberries.
