Values That Last: Intro

I’m going to begin a series of blogs taken from a small group study course our church is promoting. The title of this course is called “Values That Last” and was presented to those who wished to participate, as a “small-group-in-a-bag”. Within this bag everything that is needed to lead and maintain a group is there: Study books, group leader guide, DVD (for leader instruction and group lessons), pens, name tags, invite cards, and contact information for further support by our church. All of this was provided completely free of charge.

My husband and I will be working together on this study at home. I am eager to take this opportunity because the subjects within this 6 week course are all things I am excited to blog about. In addition to our weekly study from our small-group-in-a-bag, our pastor’s sermons will be an overview of the week’s subject. Since I find great writing inspiration from the Sunday message, this course should be helpful in solidifying that message for me.

The next 6 lessons, and therefore the next 6 blogs within this topic, in addition to a final wrap-up blog, will be as follows:

1. Choosing My Standard

2. Why My Beliefs Matter

3. Deciding Right from Wrong

4. Living With Integrity

5. Overcoming Injustice

6. How in the World Will We Live?

7. Values that Last: In Conclusion

My goal is to release these blogs on Sunday morning. My hope is that those who are interested in following along with me will join me in a group discussion on Families.com’s Christian-Evangelical forum thread titled: Values That Last: Weekly Group Discussion. Doing Bible study groups is very new to me. Because I am not able to distribute materials to everyone, I’m going to be hosting a discussion of the issues within this series instead. I’ll take participation out of pity if that’s what it takes (in case you didn’t catch that, I was being partly facetious). I really look forward to learning form others.

I will be continuing to blog on various other topics in between this series. Thank you in advance for your support and participation in discussion with me.
