I am so amazed by anyone who is willing to serve in the military to protect our freedoms, our country and all for which we we stand. That is why I am happy to talk about how soldiers and veterans in need can get help for their homes, whether they need repairs or a home away from home for their families while they get medical treatment.
If you are a veteran who needs home help or know of one who does, then you will want to keep reading. There are a number of new programs out there that can provide emergency financial assistance to service member and wounded veterans.
One such program was recently made possible thanks to The Home Depot Foundation through a $750,000 grant to Operation Homefront for Wounded Warriors.
The grant was given to help veterans throughout the country get help on their homes including repair, rehabilitation and retrofitting. It will also help provide traditional family housing in select areas for soldiers leaving the military due to injuries. Home Depot is not alone, of course, there are a number of businesses and organizations that offer home help to veterans.
When exploring housing programs for veterans and military, don’t forget to look locally. Often, you can find plenty of help at the city or state level, as well as nationally. For example, in my own area, there is the Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House which provides support and services to veterans, such as a home away from home for veterans who are undergoing medial treatment for serious health issues.
If you get even more local, there is often help available through town and city veterans associations and even local churches. Use the Internet and make some phone calls to see what options for veteran home help may be available to you or your loved ones.
