VH1 Adds More Celebreality Shows

I have always loved VH1 for bringing us such sinfully entertaining reality shows as “Flavor of Love” and “The Surreal Life.” Well, if you loved those, get prepared for two more: “Scott Baio is 45…and Single” and “Rock of Love.”

You probably remember Scott Baio as cute little Chachi Arcola, Fonz’s cousin on “Happy Days.” Scott played Chachi on the long running show from 1977 until 1984. If you are too young to remember that, then you probably have fond memories of Scott in the leading role of “Charles in Charge.” He acted in that sitcom from 1984 until 1990. So basically, for thirteen years, Scott Baio was busy with television. It is understandable that he dated, but never had time to marry…until now.

VH1 thought that the fact that Scott Baio is 45 and single was great basis for a new show. Not that Scott has been lacking for female companionship. He has been linked to such beauties as Pamela Anderson, Erika Eleniak, Nicole Eggert, Natalie Raitano, Nicollette Sheridan, Brooke Shields, and Heather Locklear among others. He currently has a girlfriend, Renee, and while she seems perfect for him, it seems that Scott has a commitment phobia. The show will spend 8 weeks with him and Dr. Alison Arnold (Doc Ali) doing some intense soul searching to see just what Scott wants from life – a happy, fulfilling relationship or the fun, carefree life of a bachelor. And of course, the show would not be complete without Scott revisiting some of his former loves.

“Rock of Love” takes an eligible bachelor who is a little less well known – Poison frontman Bret Michaels – and it provides him with a bevy of beauties from which to find the perfect mate, just like Flavor Flav. Maybe this will be a success for Michaels – after all, band mate C.C. DeVille is enjoying a resurgence in popularity after starring in “The Surreal Life.”

What I find mildly amusing is that both bachelors had relationships with Pamela Anderson. Because I love reality shows, I will probably tune into each one at least once just to see what it is all about. Who knows, I might even be sucked into watching the whole season!

“Rock of Love” and “Scott Baio is 45…and Single” both premiere on VH1 on July 15th at 9:00 EST and 10:30 EST respectively.

About Libby Pelham

I have always loved to write and Families.com gives me the opportunity to share my passion for writing with others. I work full-time as a web developer at UTHSC and most of my other time is spent with my son (born 2004). I love everything pop culture, but also enjoy writing about green living (it has opened my eyes to many things!) and health (got to worry about that as you get older!).
