Video to Teach Sight Words

Teaching a child how to read is an exciting and exhausting time. The English language is not the easiest to teach with so many rules and rules that were made to be broken. Sight words are sight words because the rules of phonics fail. Since I am not a textbook kind of homeschooler and my kids grow tired of workbooks I try to use other means to instill important lessons. The more ways I introduce a concept the easier it is for them to learn and catch on. One resource I love to use is DVDs. I do not advocate DVDs because I want my children to sit like drones in front of the TV. I do not advocate DVDs because I want my children to learn independent of my teaching. I recommend certain high quality DVDs because it is an effective way to reinforce the lessons you are already actively teaching. The student is not pressured nor feels stress and simply enjoys some free time watching a DVD.

Sight Words by Rock N Learn is one such DVD which is high in quality and reinforces lessons I was teaching. Since it has a fun format with entertaining music a child is quickly engaged and lessons come alive.

My daughter really enjoys watching all the Rock N Learn DVDs so I knew this one would help my reluctant reader get in on the act of reading. If you need a fun resource to reinforce sight words in your homeschool this may be the perfect option for your child.
