How many jokes, surveys, video attachments, and other miscellaneous “fun” stuff do you get in your inbox on a weekly (or maybe even daily) basis? I get tons. Most of it I automatically delete, but some I don’t. In fact, sometimes I even forward them, thus helping to make them “viral.” (In other words, the kind of email that spreads from inbox to inbox.)
Here’s a few I’m guilty of spreading:
Cute: Big Dog, Little Baby
A little while back, Bailey’s “PopPop” forwarded me a picture of a huge black dog laying in a yard on a blanket with a smiling baby dressed in yellow.
I had seen this picture before. I had forgotten about it, though, until I got PopPop’s email.
It’s a really cute set of photos (the first email I had received had about three other photos of the pair), because the dog is huge (not sure what breed it is, maybe Newfoundland?) but that baby has got her happy face pressed just as close to that dog’s as she can get it. And the dog’s paw is slung affectionately around her shoulders. It’s absolutely adorable and the perfect picture to personify the gentle lovingness most dogs exhibit towards young ones.
LOL: Psycho Cats
My neighbor Marlene forwarded me a video attachment with a collection of cat clips I’d never seen before. There’s lots of ones of cats batting things, chasing things, playing with dogs, making incredible leaps either off of something or on to something else, and climbing on things they shouldn’t (like aquariums and empty boxes, which of course collapse).
My favorites of the bunch include one little kitten standing on his back haunches waving his front paws at a bigger cat who’s just sitting there watching him. It’s like the little cat is trying to hypnotize the other one or something. Cute in itself, turns hysterically funny when the bigger cat suddenly lunges and tackles the little guy.
Then there’s one where a kid’s running towards the camera. From out of nowhere comes this huge, fluffy cat bolting full speed at the kid, jumps on him, and knocks him over.
But my all time favorite is of a bear walking by some bushes. All of a sudden he jumps and turns tail to run from something in the bushes, which turns out to be a little black and white cat who ends up chasing after the bear! (I don’t think I would have believed the tale if I hadn’t seen it.)
Unexpected: Dark and Stormy Night
My friend Judy just sent me this one. It starts out as a story about a male and female alone together on a dark and stormy night. She’s afraid and wants nothing more than his strong arms around her.
Suddenly the storm worsens, the lights go out, she screams and he rushes to comfort her, pulling her into his arms. They huddle together, knowing it’s wrong, that their family wouldn’t approve, but they can’t help it. They’re so consumed with their fear that they don’t hear the door opening, the camera clicking… And that’s when you scroll down and find a picture of a cat and a bulldog huddled together in each other’s arms on a sofa staring very guiltily into the camera.
It was such a clever one I forwarded it to all my pet-loving friends.
